Protecting the rights of children and ensuring their safety has been a major focus of POPET’s social awareness initiatives. Through its Child Rights and Protection Campaigns, POPET has reached thousands of children and families across Odisha, educating them about child welfare laws, safety from abuse, and the importance of a supportive environment for every child’s development.
In collaboration with District Child Protection Units (DCPU), Women and Child Development Departments, and local NGOs, POPET organized awareness programs in schools, slums, tribal villages, and vulnerable communities. These campaigns were especially impactful in districts like Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, and Deogarh, where risks of trafficking, exploitation, and abuse are higher.
Notable among these efforts was the campaign on Early Child Marriage Prevention conducted in Koraput, and Sishu Mitra Panchayat awareness in Debagarh, which promoted child-friendly governance at the village level.
POPET’s programs often included role-plays, Q&A sessions, puppet shows, and community discussions, making complex laws understandable for rural audiences. Educational materials were distributed to children and parents, and local leaders were engaged to ensure community follow-up.
Through consistent grassroots efforts, POPET’s Child Rights and Protection Campaigns have strengthened awareness, reduced harmful practices, and empowered children and guardians to recognize and assert their rights—laying the foundation for a safer and more inclusive future for Odisha’s children.
