Agriculture Awareness & Krushi Ratha Campaigns by POPET

To support rural farmers with knowledge about modern agriculture practices and government schemes, POPET has actively led Agriculture Awareness Campaigns and Krushi Ratha outreach programs across Odisha. These initiatives aim to strengthen the agricultural economy by bridging the gap between policy and practice, especially in remote and tribal farming communities.
Agriculture Awareness & Krushi Ratha Campaigns by POPET
The Krushi Ratha Campaigns, conducted in collaboration with the District Agriculture Offices, featured mobile vans (Krushi Rathas) equipped with educational materials, posters, audio messages, and demonstration tools. These vans traveled village to village, conducting live street plays, exhibitions, and awareness sessions focused on:
  • Crop diversification
  • Organic farming techniques
  • Government subsidies and insurance schemes
  • Climate-resilient farming
  • Soil health management
  • Use and maintenance of farm machinery
From 2018 to 2023, POPET completed over 300 Krushi Ratha campaigns across districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Puri, Jajpur, Ganjam, and Rayagada. Each campaign was tailored to the local agricultural context, seasonal crops, and farmer needs.
In addition to the mobile outreach, wall paintings were executed in hundreds of Gram Panchayats, focusing on agricultural best practices and promotion of flagship schemes like PM KISAN, Crop Diversification Program (CDP), and Mega Lift Irrigation Projects (MLIP).
These campaigns were particularly impactful in encouraging farmers to adopt sustainable techniques, enroll in crop insurance, and avail financial support through government programs. POPET’s culturally sensitive messaging and village-level interaction created a strong sense of trust and participation among rural farmers.
Through the Krushi Ratha initiatives, POPET continues to empower Odisha’s farming communities with practical knowledge, timely information, and a platform to engage with the state’s agriculture development efforts.
